Comedy
Hello, I’m Jim Hands, Stand-up comedian, Human Design Guide, and High School Spanish & ESL teacher.
After my MA in English in 2013, I finally decided to do what I always wanted to do, and started taking comedy classes and stand up comedy. Having grown accustomed to regular food, shelter, and employment, I kept the day job as I see it as an additional skill I get to use daily.
I use stand up comedy techniques in the classroom to try to make the class more interesting and entertaining. The drawback is that educational theory has blended into my standup so it’s more boring and educational. So far, no one has noticed the difference in either venue.
After getting thrown out of a 3rd grade class for suggesting an anatomically correct addition to the hangman on the board the class was playing, I decided that making people laugh was fun and I’ve been doing it ever since, although I never play hangman in the classes I teach now.
Below you’ll find a few videos. Feel free to reach out if you’d like to hire me for your event as a host, emcee, or homework checker.
There is not enough laughter in the world, and by that I mean the kind of laughter that heals rather than hurts. I don’t like mean comedy as I feel there’s no place for it, and I avoid it.
